Sheringham is one of those North Norfolk towns that stays with you. Walk down the High Street and you'll pass fishmongers, independent galleries, and tearooms that haven't changed hands in decades. The Poppy Line — the heritage steam railway connecting Sheringham to Holt — puffs through the town, and the sound of its whistle is as much part of the backdrop as the gulls overhead. Upper Sheringham, a mile or so inland and uphill, is quieter — a scattering of farms, flint houses, and lanes leading toward Pretty Corner and the woodland fringe of Sheringham Park.
